Vang Vieng

Laos

Why Vang Vieng?

Surrounded by stunning countryside

Located on the banks of the Nam Song River, Vang Vieng is surrounded by dramatic limestone karst hills, rice fields, and dense jungle. Vang Vieng is easy to explore on foot as it has just three main streets. The local restaurants cater for a range of tastes serving a selection of Lao, Chinese, Thai, American and Italian food. A big draw to the area is the stunning countryside. Here you can enjoy popular activities including hiking, rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, caving, and rock climbing. Outside of the rainy season (June – September), the Nam Song River is a popular place for swimmers.

Vang Vieng, Laos

Tham Phu Kham & Blue Lagoon

Located west of Vang Vieng, the vast Tham Phu Kham is considered sacred by Lao. The main cave chamber contains a Thai bronze reclining Buddha, and from here deeper galleries branch off into the mountain. It's hugely popular largely due to the aptly named 'Blue Lagoon'.
